WBBC (Walk, Bike, Bus and Carpool) to School Program

How would you like to get a text or email or phone call when your child arrives at school in the morning? In an effort to encourage more environmentally friendly transportation to school, CCE has joined the Davis Active4.me scanning program. To participate, you must first register to have a barcode assigned to your child. Registration is simple! Go to http://CesarChavez.active4.me and enter your data. Not only will you know when your child arrives at school, but additional information is also provided such as miles traveled, calories burned, money saved and total carbon reduction! Once you have registered, you’ll need to print out, sign your registration form and turn it in to the CCE main office.

This program is open to teachers, staff, students and their families. For parents who ride to school with their kids, you have an option to enroll as a family, which will allow you to track the total mileage for all individuals in your family. Also, the program allows for the enrollment of children who park-and-walk, carpool or take the bus to school.

Volunteers Needed

This program relies on a core group of volunteers willing to assist with manning the stations at the front and back bike racks. Because there are two stations, we need two volunteers each morning. It takes about 30 minutes of your day between 8:00-8:30 a.m. and simply involves scanning each kid's bar code as they arrive at school. Any level of involvement (e.g., once a week, once a month) would be greatly appreciated. For more information, please contact Scott Fuglei.

Bike Rodeo

The annual Bike Safety Rodeo is Wednesday, September 18 after school on the CCE playground. This event provides students with the opportunity for a bike safety inspection, helmet fitting, skills test course and traffic sign quiz. A huge THANK YOU to Bike Davis for making this event possible.

In order for student to participate, parents must complete and sign the consent form, which should be submitted to the designated envelope in the CCE office.

Bike Month

May is Bike Month! Last year's celebration of Bike Month included National Bike and Walk to School Day, the Davis Bikeapalooza, decorating bike helmets, breakfast and afterschool treats for Active4me participants, and "Wacky Races". Stay tuned for this year's planned activities.

Bike and Walk to School Day will be scheduled closer to May. For more information, link here.

Bike Swap

CCE held it's first annual Bike Swap to raise money for CCE programs in April 2013. The next annual Bike Swap is planned for Sunday, April 7, 2019. Link here for more information.
